New to Freq51? Follow these steps to get a node connected without having to read every guide first.

Your First 30 Minutes

1. Get a Meshtastic-compatible device.
2. Flash the latest Meshtastic Alpha version that supports your device. Alpha may be less stable than Beta, but it is reliable for normal use. See the Firmware Update Guide for step-by-step help.
3. Pair the Meshtastic app with your node over Bluetooth, USB, or Wi-Fi.
4. Apply the community settings with the Freq51 configuration tool.
5. Send a short test message on the Freq51 mesh.
6. Check MeshView to see nearby infrastructure and, if your node opts in, its map presence.
7. Join Freq51 Discord if you need help.

Before You Deploy Anything Permanent

• Start with the CLIENT role unless the community has helped you choose another role.
• Test from the intended location before mounting equipment permanently.
• Do not deploy a ROUTER without coordination; a poorly placed router can reduce mesh performance.
